OUTLAW Photo Shoot

Take 10 unique models, one amazing photographer and a whole crew of talented hair and makeup people; shake it with a shot of sexy dive bar and a lot of chemistry, and you get a stunning photo shoot that will take your breath away.
Photographer Leslie Van Stelten and I collaborated in March to create a provocative and hopefully inspiring fashion spread to explore the concept of what it means in our society today to be an OUTLAW. As some of you may know, the tag line for my clothing line is “Style For Outlaws.” I have always personally felt like a bit of an outlaw because so many aspects of my identity have not fit into the neat little box that our society wants me to fit into. I think a lot of people can relate to being judged by their family, their community, the government or their religions for aspects of their identity that make them the unique, beautiful individuals that they are.
In the spirit of embracing the outlaw in all of us, I had a rather unusual model casting call. In addition to submitting photos of themselves, I asked each prospective model to write a short essay explaining why they identify as an OUTLAW. The answers to this question were poignant, heartfelt, inspirational and made me fall in love with each model I chose to be part of the shoot.
As you will see in the fashion slideshow below, there is more to each model than just their unique beauty. Everyone has a story to tell. Special thanks to God-des and She for use of their song "Yeah Yeah Yeah" from the new CD Stand up. (just a remark, for a foreigner like me, the texts dissapear two quickly, often i didn't get the time to read it down to the end, could you make a slow down version, because even if i like (c)licking, it's not so funny and practicable to swich pause button so many times ;-)

...in modeling. People always tell me I should be one, never thought it could be as purposeful as this. The short stories MADE this shoot, fantastic job.

Yes, the pinstripe jacket as well as some other stuff you saw in the slideshow are all one-of-a-kind recycled vintage that I "RIGGED" with my own art/graphics. I am working on getting more made to sell on my website. That particular pinstripe was snatched up by photographer Leslie Van Stelten--it looks great on her. But more to come!

breaking down outdated laws (In re Marriage)
would LOVE a custom OUTLAW design for law schoolers/lawyers! Being gay and being an Outlaw/lawstudent is a daily struggle from the eye raises and token queer jokes. I'm the only gay person in my class, the only one who has a voice about our issues so Outlaw is the best way to describe it; someone who doesn't fit and who speaks out. Outlaw, love your work.

I know it's nicer to imagine a foxy lady sewing up your shirt but in a pinch, go to your neighborhood tailor/dry cleaner--they can take that tux shirt in for cheap.
